Most frequently asked questions
The subject syllabus is divided into physical geography and human geography. Although the topics in the human section are superior to the physical one, the exam is divided 50% for each block. Hence the importance of studying everything. But, if we had to say what almost never fails, I would say: Spanish climates (climatic diversity and vegetation), demographic movements (the Spanish population), urban structure (urban space) and the service sectorAll of this, moreover, is closely linked to the interpretation of maps and graphs. This doesn't mean that the rest of the topics should be overlooked, as the exam is designed so that one question from each topic falls, even if it's a multiple-choice test.
How is the Spanish Geography exam structured at the Spanish National Electoral College (PCE)?
- 1 part. 10 questions, of which 8 must be chosen for answering. Three possible answers, only one correct. Correct answers (+0,25 points). Wrong answers (-0,1 points). No answers (0 points).
- 2 part. There will be 4 development questions, 2 to choose from. Each question is worth 2 points.
- 3 part. Two exercises will be given and the student will be asked to choose one of them.
Writing is taken into account, and points will be deducted if the student rambles on about what they know or explains parts that were not asked. A calculator may be brought.
Tricks and tips
- Previously study the physical and political map of Spain, they are essential and you will need them to locate the geographical features and the provinces and Autonomous Communities of the country
- When you start studying the syllabus, use maps to help you. You will achieve a better spatial capacity and understanding of the territory
- Help yourself with drawings for physical geography and graphics for human geography
- Make outlines and summaries of the longest parts
- Practice the most important graphics of the subject (climagram, clip art, demographic pyramid, urban plan)
- Be careful with the terminology in the test type, it may seem convoluted, but if you read them carefully you will get the answer
- Pay close attention to what they ask for in the development question: list, cite, explain or compare. If he tells you to explain, you cannot use hyphens, you have to argue at length, for example.
- Respond in an orderly manner in the practical questions and stick to what they ask. Of course, if you are asked to reason, you have to think and explain your conclusions in a more or less extensive way.
- If you're stuck on a test question, move on to the next one.
- Choose your development questions carefully. If you know the 4, choose the ones that you feel most comfortable telling. The same thing happens with the practical one, read carefully what each of them asks of you and consider which one gives you the opportunity to develop a better response.

Hello, my name is Maiara and I am preparing to take the PCE test next year. I want to study International Relations, and I have a question: can art history be considered a compulsory subject?
In this case, my test would look like this:
Common materials:
Spanish language and literature
foreign language
history of spain
Mandatory material:
history of art
Specific materials for the modality:
geography
companies and business model design
Anyway, thanks in advance.
Hello Maiara. You haven't told us which university you would like to apply to, so we don't know what requirements you have to meet and whether the subjects you have chosen have the proper weighting. Please contact us and we will try to help you. Best regards.
To do psychology, what do I think more about Art History or Geography?
It depends on the university. You should look at the weighting table of the university you want to enter and see which one has the most weighting (usually 0,2 is the maximum).
