What is the Foreigners Phase in Andalusia?

It is one of the pathways to universities in Andalusia. In this region, there are 3 phases to access higher education:

  1. Foreigners Phase
  2. Ordinary phase
  3. Extraordinary phase

Unlike the previous two phases, the international student phase does not require exams , as the admission score is calculated based solely on the high school diploma. This application process is open to all students who have completed their high school diploma or secondary education in a country other than Spain and wish to pursue a university degree in Andalusia.

What is the Unique Andalusian District?

The DUA (Andalusian Single District) is the portal intended for those students, Spanish or foreign, who wish to carry out university studies at its different levels (degrees, masters, postgraduate, doctorates…) in Andalusia (Granada, Seville, Malaga, Cadiz….).

Foreigner Phase cut-off mark

The first thing you need to know is whether the degree you want to study has reserved places at that university for non-Spanish pre-university students. Next, you need to find out if your high school grade (or equivalent qualification) is higher than the cut-off score established for this special application period. You can check this at this link . As you'll see, some programs, like Medicine, don't have reserved places.

Requirements of the Foreigners Phase of Andalusia

This information depends on the destination university, so it is advisable to check with the official organization:

  • NON-Spanish nationality.
  • B1 level of Spanish (for non-Spanish-speaking countries).
  • Have obtained a high school diploma or another degree that allows access to university outside of Spain.
  • Have completed the homologation of the titles issued in another country or be in process.
  • Pass the cut-off mark established in this way for universities and degrees, as we have commented in the previous point.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Andalusian Foreigners Phase

The advantages are as follows:

  • Possibility of being able to enter a university degree without an exam.
  • Savings on PCE or EBAU Selectivity exam fees.

The drawbacks are:

  • Not all grades available (consult the university).
  • Limited quotas. Not all places are offered.
  • Uncertainty due to not having a guaranteed place.
  • If you don't study for the entrance exam, you may not have the proper foundation to begin your studies in September, so in that case, you might consider a Course 0 or a Leveling Course.

How is the request made?

To register and apply for a place, you must click on the Andalusian Single District page and start the process by following the steps indicated and submitting the required documentation.

Information on the Foreigners Phase in the universities of Andalusia

As we mentioned, each Andalusian public university has its own criteria and guidelines for carrying out this phase. However, you can find all the information in this official document published by the Andalusian Ministry of Education.

Here we indicate the regulations of each university in the Foreigners Phase:

The opinion of Escuela PCE

The Andalusian Foreigners Phase can be a simple route for those who wish to enter a Spanish university study. However, it carries a series of risks if it is taken as the preferred option. From Escuela PCE We recommend that it be used as an alternative plan to studying and taking the common entrance exams (PCE). Given the dates on which the documentation is presented and the publication of admitted students, it is possible to carry out adequate preparation, not only for the entrance exams, but also for the beginning of the degree, as well as the guarantee of having a valid admission note for all Spanish universities, in case you want to change region.
