Knowing the cut-off mark It is something necessary before starting to study the university degree that you want to access. Having to achieve an entrance grade close to 14 is not the same as having to achieve a 6. Although the subjects are the same in many cases, the "ease" of achieving the objective is different, as is the level of demand. This means that, in many cases, up to 2 years of preparation are necessary to safely take the tests and obtain the highest score.

Things to keep in mind regarding the cut-off score

1. The cutoff note is GUIDANCE. It changes from year to year, so one year can be higher or lower. It does not usually vary much, but a few tenths. Of course, do not expect it to drop more than one point.

2. It is only valid for public universities. If you want to enter a private university you must check the access requirements for that specific degree.

3. It has no relation to the difficulty of the grade. High cut-off marks only explain a lot of demand from students, but it is more than possible that a university degree is easier than another with a lower cut-off mark.

4. There are studies that do not have a cut-off score. That is, they have a cut-off score of 5. They mean that these careers offer more places than those demanded and do not fill their quotas. This is especially interesting if you have appeared in the extraordinary call and there are no places in most of the grades, since they have been filled with the ordinary call.

  1. Good morning, I have a question. It happens that I am from Colombia, and I understand we have a kind of agreement, my grade approved by the ICFES is 8,92. And I want to study genetics at the UAB, which requires a cut-off grade of 11,92. I have a doubt about what type of test I will have to take next year, since I understand that the tests will change starting next year.

  4. Hello. One question, why are the cut-off marks lower here than on the official university websites? For example, chemical engineering at the UAM is 10.686 and here it is 9 something.

Hello!, my question is that my IB grades do not come out until July 6, so I cannot apply until then, but I understand that people from Spain already apply before that date, and I do not understand how they are going to me. to be able to accept me after they have already given the places to the Spanish students

    • Hello Diego. University pre-registration for students from educational systems outside the EU has until July 10 to apply for a place. If you cannot do it on that date you will have to wait until September.

  6. Hello, I'm Teresa from Peru, a question, the closing note has to do with the prestige of the university, that is, if for journalism the Pompeu Fabra University has 11 and the University of Seville 5, the first is better than the other in that career? I hope you can help me with that question. Thank you

    • Hello Teresa. The cut-off grade is established according to the grade obtained by the last student who has entered the university; it depends on the demand for the course in each autonomous community, not on prestige. In Spain there is no ranking of universities as is the case in other countries.

    • Hello Elena. The cut-off grades are established with the grade obtained by the last student who entered that university. Therefore, each university has its cut-off score, it does not mean that it is better or worse. If the last student who enters Valencia had a grade of 11,2, that will be the cut-off grade. On the other hand, if in Madrid the last person to enter had a 13, that is the grade to enter.

      • Hello, thanks for answering! Yes, I knew that each university had different cut-off marks. For example, if you go to the Salamanca medicine degree website and the cut-off mark in the last list was 13,175, but here it put 12,844, so I don't know which ones are correct!
        Thank you very much!
        A greeting.

        • Hello Elena. The cut-off mark issued at the University of Salamanca is for students who want to enter next year given that the places have already been filled with students who took the exam in May. The ones we have published are the ones that were needed to access this year. We will soon update the listings when all the notes are published.

  8. Hello! I don't understand if these cut-off marks are from this year, or are estimates, since the university has not yet published them.

    • The cut-off marks are estimates. Those that are published are those from last year, but they serve to guide for 2022.

  9. Hello, I thank this team for this great help they provide to all students. I have a question:

I would like to apply for a degree in medicine at the University of Galicia, the application deadline is June 30, but I have a 4.75 in Chemistry and I am waiting for my review grade. What should I do if the deadline arrives and I still don't have the review note to be able to apply? Thank you!!

    • Hello Roberto. Thank you very much for your words, we work very hard to offer you the best 🙂
We are sorry to inform you that in that case you would have to consult with the university about the deadlines for your situation, if any. Otherwise, you would have to apply for the place the following year since by September we doubt there would be places available.

  10. Hello ! Are these cut notes accurate? For example, do I need an 11,61 to enter the pharmacy degree at the University of Valencia?

    Reply
    • Hello Meriem. The cut-off marks that we publish come from the universities themselves, so they are the ones you would have to achieve to access.
