If you're taking it for exams, it's because you want to study a degree in science or engineering. It's compatible for both sides and will be very useful in your university life, regardless of your path. So, dedicate time to it and don't hesitate to give it your all. It will reward you in the end. The exams are commensurate with the level of the subject. If you study, you'll get a passing grade or even a good grade. If you don't, you'll be guaranteed to fail.

Chemistry Syllabus
The content to study in the subject is:
- Atomic structure of matter.
- Atomic system of elements.
- Inorganic formulation.
- Calculations in chemistry.
- Chemical kinetics.
- Thermodynamics
- Chemical balance.
- Acid Base
- Red-ox
- organic chemistry.
Most frequently asked questions
The 3 most important topics for this Selectividad exam are Acid/Base, Redox and Chemical Equilibrium. Next up are Organic Chemistry and Kinetics. It's important to understand the nature of elements, their valencies, bonds, and hybridization. Organic Chemistry, as well as Kinetics, has a prominent place in multiple-choice questions.
How is the Chemistry exam structured at the PCE?
The periodic table is not allowed, the necessary data will be given in it. The use of non-programmable calculator.
The exam is structured as follows:
- 1 part. Two statements, one of which must be answered. This section is worth 2,5 points.
- 2 part. Two statements, one of which must be answered. This section is worth 2,5 points.
- 3 part. An 8-question test, 6 of which are chosen. There are 4 possible answers. Each correct answer adds 0.5 points, and each incorrect answer subtracts 0.1 points. This section is worth 3 points.
- 4 part. A single question that may refer to developing something about the test, or may be related to applications of Chemistry.
If the questions are not reasoned and explained, the score is reduced by 20%, except for the test that is not explained. If the student contradicts themselves and/or offers flawed reasoning, no score is awarded. A point may be deducted for presentation and/or spelling mistakes.
Tricks and tips
- First of all, it is important to read the general instructions of the exam that they give us.
- You have to read the exam calmly. Think before you answer.
- Make a mental structure of the time you have for each question based on your knowledge and what they ask of us.
- There are no clocks, so time control is mental.
- Read and review at the end of everything, if you can just when you are going to hand it in. You don't know how many things you could find that you could improve.
- Watch the way you write. Present the exam well, with outlines. If these general correction criteria are not met, the score may be reduced by 10% of the maximum for the question.
- The chemical language used, the formulation of the problem, the correct settings, a good interpretation of the results and clarity and readability in all of this are valued.
- The questions or sections in which you are asked to reason or justify the answer will be scored with 20% of their value if said reasoning or justification is not carried out.
- Learn the periodic table well. The elements are the basis of this matter.
- Practice stoichiometry.
- If you have little time, study the top 3 topics that we have discussed before. There goes almost 70% of the subject.
- If you don't get a problem, don't get stuck. Go to the next question and don't stop. Then there will be time to return to that issue and see the ruling.

Hi, I'm sorry to bother you, but I have a question. To prepare for this exam, can I sign up for classes for university entrance exams instead of specific classes for the PCE? I understand that the exams are a little different, but the syllabus is more or less the same except for a couple of topics, and I know the structure of the PCE exam well, so I don't think there will be a problem, but I wanted to know if it's advisable. Thanks 🙂
Hello, I would like to obtain the answers for the 2019 exam if it could be possible since you mentioned that you would not mind sending the answers to an exam.
Hello good! Do you know what type of inorganic nomenclature (Systematic N, Stock N, Traditional N) is used in PCE tests?
Thank you.
You can use the one you want and you must know all 3. Elements are usually named with the traditional name in development problems.
