If you're reading this, you're probably interested in studying in Spain. Therefore, the first thing you should know is that there's a collaboration agreement between Colombia and Spain, in place since 2023, to facilitate access to universities in both countries. This agreement essentially allows you to use your university entrance exam scores to gain admission to universities in other countries, avoiding the need to retake the exams.

For this reason, it is important to know the grade obtained to know if it is necessary to present a series of subjects in order to obtain the maximum grade. It may not be necessary or it may be necessary to take one or two, but in any case far from those usually taken by students from outside the EU, the normal being between 4 and 6 subjects.

Equivalence of the Saber 11 tests and the EBAU Selectivity in Spain

Understanding the equivalencies between the two education systems is key to knowing your chances of gaining admission to your chosen field of study in Spain. These equivalencies can be found in the Official State Gazette (BOE ), but we'll summarize them below:

Interpretation of results

In Spain, grades are usually given between 0 and 10 points, with 5 being the minimum grade considered as passing. Therefore, the results will be between 5 and 10 points. But...and now what?

  1. The first thing you should know is what degree you want to attend and what university. There are private and public universities, more than 300 degrees to choose from... but the access conditions are different.
  2. Know the cut-off mark for the degree and university to be admitted. You can see this on our updated page about Cutting notes.
  3. If you see that the cut-off grade is lower than your equivalent grade, congratulations. It is very likely that you will not have to take exams to gain access. If the cut-off grade is higher, you will have to present evidence to raise the grade.
  4. Depending on what you are missing between your equivalent EBAU grade and the cut-off grade for some subjects or others. The normal thing is that you have to prepare 2 subjects, but sometimes one is enough, sometimes 3 are necessary to be able to guarantee.
