Okay. You already have your notes and you proceed to carry out the university pre-registration. Perfect. Now the easiest thing remains…choosing which university degree to study. Simple, right? Well, it seems that it is not when many students ask us and search about what studies to choose. This decision is private and personal to each person, but we are going to give you a series of tips to make it much easier for you.

How to choose a university degree well?

  1. Choose what YOU WANT. This seems easy, but many students are influenced by family and friends. It is one of the decisions of your life and it needs to be completely yours. Listen, inform yourself and receive opinions, but let the final choice be yours. We recommend that you make our Vocational test to know which itinerary best suits you, although perhaps, if you have already taken a series of subjects, it may already be too late.
  2. Be realistic and compare your admission grade with the cut-off mark. There is no point in wanting to be a doctor in Spain if your grade barely passes a pass. First of all, you have to have critical thinking and choose whether to appear again to raise your grade or keep your grade and access the university.
  3. Maybe you don't know what you want, but you do know what you DON'T like.. Start from that point to direct your preferences.
  4. Don't focus on the professional career. Nothing can be worse than dedicating yourself to working on something you hate.
  5. The best way to find out if you like a degree at a specific university is to visit the campus and ask the students. Each university is different and has different resources. Invest time in knowing where you are going to be in the next years of your life.
  6. Addition college tuition expense, Assess the secondary expenses of your university period. Travel to college from home, new cities, rentals and meals must be evaluated to make a final choice based on your finances. Maybe you really like a university but the expense of choosing it triggers expenses that are not affordable.
  7.  Don't worry if you choose the wrong career. The worst that can happen is that you don't like it and have to change. But even so you will have learned something and you will have the opportunity to pass subjects to validate them and have invested your year well in another grade.

  2. Hello, my name is Carlos, I am 25 years old, I homologated my Venezuelan bachelor's degree in Spain with a resulting equivalent of 9,6, I have some doubts, I want to apply to start my university studies, the first date of call for this year's PCE tests 2024 regarding the presentation, it is only for local students or international students, we can apply to present in that period, if we can present the test in the first call, it is only in Spain or I can access it through the consulate of my country of current domicile, yes. get to present in the first pyeba and not reach the cut-off mark5 can I present in the second call in order to improve my score or should I wait a year? Finally, the PCE test has to do directly with the requirements of the university, that is, can it vary from the computation of Mdris with respect to the University of Seville? I wish you the best of success in your educational support and advice efforts. I await your response promptly to have clarity on the important step that I plan to take in 4. Thank you

    • Hello Isabel. It is one thing to have the IB (International Baccalaureate, a specific qualification) and another to have a high school diploma in a non-Spanish country. In the case of the IB it is not necessary to homologate, but in the second case it is. Depending on what you have (if you have Grade 12 we understand that it is not IB), you will need to do the PCEs. For Madrid there would be 4 subjects. Regarding which ones, personalized advice is for academy students, but you can see our post: https://escuelapce.com/unedassis/que-materias-tengo-que-hacer-para-la-selectividad-unedasiss/
